Puerto Plata tur och retur

Förra veckan sa Steve att man ska riva bron i Montellano, det är den bron som gick sönder för ett bra tag sedan. Man måste passera den bron för att ta sig till Puerto Plata. Dom tunga fordonen har varit tvungna att åka en omväg sedan bron gick sönder medan personbilar har kunnat passerat efter att bron lagades provisoriskt. Jag gissar att utbyte av den gamla bron har fått vänta medan man har förbättrat omvägen. Nästa vecka ska man tydligen demontera bron för att installera en ny, informationen säger att det ska ta en vecka vilket jag tror är en önskedröm. Inget stort jobb som det där är tar en vecka här. I och med det bestämde vi att åka till Puerto Plata medan bron är på plats för att jag skulle kunna beställa plåttak till vår pergola och utbyggnad av carporten. Imorse kom Steve och hämtade Tina som också ville följa med och mig här hemma. 

Vi åkte först till La Sirena där jag köpte ytterligare ett duschmunstycke inkl slang för samma pris som jag betalade för bara dusch-munstycket på Linares. Så nu har vi ett extra utifall fler går sönder. Där sålde man jord-gubbar i en större förpackning för lite mer än den lilla förpackningen som man säljer på Janet's. När jag såg apelsinerna blev jag så sugen på det så jag köpte tre stycken. Jag hittade ett större plastglas med lock och sugrör som kommer att passa perfekt till min Ice Coffee, mycket mer än det handlade jag inte där.

Från La Sirena guidade jag Steve till Freddy's vilket är järnaffären som vi ofta besöker när vi är i Puerto Plata. Det Steve behövde var jag ganska så säker på att han inte skulle hitta hos Freddy´s så han åkte förbi utan att stanna. För att inte Steve skulle få sällskap av två hangry damer bestämde vi oss för att luncha på McDonald's, jag var nämligen sugen på deras McFlurry Apple pie. Steve gasade på till McDonald's som är granne med Jumbo. Nåt man inte har förstått på McDonald's här är att det är fast food, det tar tid trots mycket personal som verkar mer springa runt som yra hönor. Om man beställer i automaten måste man ändå köa till kassan för att betala, det lärde jag mig sist så det steget skippade jag. Vi beställde vad vi skulle ha, både Tina och jag ville ha glass men för att inte behöva äta en rinnig glass bestämde vi oss för att köpa den när vi ätit klart. Då tog det ännu längre tid att få vår glass men till slut fick vi den och den var väl värd att vänta på.

När glassen var uppäten åkte vi rakt över parkeringen till Jumbo där Steve alltid köper de lux-pasta och Cheddarost som är den som är mest lika engelsk cheddar. Jag köpte sköljmedel som vi helt plötsligt gör av i mängder, Jumbo har ett billigare märke Lider, jag köpte både sköljmedel och diskmedel samt apelsinmarmelad av det märke. Marmeladen är en av två av dom som jag tycker är goda här, min favvo har jag inte hittat på superlänge då får Lider duga. När Jumbo var avklarad åkte vi nästan bara runt hörnet till Hierro Rafa där jag beställde plåttak, det besöket gick supersnabbt och leveransen sker på måndag. Det bästa av allt priset hade gått ner med 8 pesos, inte mycket men när går priset ner liksom? Vi behövde 7 skivor metalltak i längd 13 feet, det fanns inte hemma så jag beställde 14 istället vilket funkar det med det blir bara lite mer överhäng.

Efter att jag har pratat med Steve och Tina som förstås bara läser den engelska bloggtexten förstår jag att man scrollar förbi den svenska texten och inte tittar på bilderna där så från och med nu blir det samma bilder på båda versionerna.

Puerto Plata round trip

Last week Steve told me that they are going to tear down the bridge in Montellano, that's the bridge that broke quite a while ago. You have to cross that bridge to get to Puerto Plata. The heavy vehicles need to take a detour since the bridge broke, while passenger cars have been able to pass after the bridge was temporarily repaired. I guess replacement of the old bridge has had to wait while the detour street has been improved. Next week apparently the bridge will be dismantled to install a new one, the information says it will take a week which I think is wishful thinking. No big job like that takes a week here. With that, we decided to go to Puerto Plata while the bridge is in place so that I could order the metal roof for our pergola and expansion of the carport. This morning, Steve came to pick up me and Tina, who also wanted to come with us here at home.

We went first to La Sirena where I bought another shower head including hose for the same price as I paid for just the shower head at Linares. So now we have an extra in case another will break. There they sold strawberries in a larger package for a little more than the small package that they sell at Janet's. When I saw the oranges, I got an urge to buy them so I did. I found a larger plastic glass with a lid and straw that will be perfect for my Ice Coffee, much more than that I didn't buy there.

From La Sirena I guided Steve to Freddy's which is the hardware store we frequent visit when we are in Puerto Plata. I was pretty sure Steve wouldn't find what he needed at Freddy's, so he drove by without stopping. So that Steve wouldn't be joined by two hangry ladies, we decided to have lunch at McDonald's, I was craving their McFlurry Apple pie. Steve drove stright to McDonald's, which is next door to Jumbo. Something that has not been understood at McDonald's here is that it is fast food, it takes time despite a lot of staff who seem to be running around like crazy chickens. If you order in the machine, you still have to queue to the cashier to pay for your order, I learned that last time, so I skipped that step. We ordered what we wanted, both Tina and I wanted ice cream but in order to not have to eat a runny ice cream, we decided to buy it when we had eaten. Then it took even longer time to get our ice cream but in the end we got it and it was well worth the wait.

When the ice cream was eaten we went straight across the parking lot to Jumbo's where Steve always buys de lux pasta and Cheddar cheese which is the one that is most like English cheddar. I bought softener that we suddenly use a lot of these days, Jumbo has a cheaper brand Lider, I bought both softener and dishwashing liquid as well as orange marmalade from that brand. The marmalade is one of two that I think are tasty here, I haven't found my favorite one in a super long time, so Lider will have to do. When Jumbo was done we almost just went around the corner to Hierro Rafa where I ordered metal roofs, that visit went super fast and the delivery is on Monday. Best of all the price had gone down by 8 pesos, not much but when does the price go down anyway? We needed 7 sheets of metal roof in length 13 feet, they didn't have that lenght at home so I ordered 14 instead, which will work fine too we will just have a little more overhang.

After I have spoken to Steve and Tina, who of course only read the English text, I understand that you scroll past the Swedish text and don't look at the pictures there, so from now on it will be the same pictures on both versions.
